There is an unconscious urge for us to go towards, to discover, to possess something that we feel we need to complete us.
We think it’s the acquisition of something external like a relationship, power, fame, wealth, physical ‘beauty’, etc.
We are seeking wholeness.
But, after much searching, suffering and disappointment – we are left with a sense of
emptiness.
After our external focus loses it’s grasp, and we become awake to our inner reality,
and we initially transfer that search-and-seek over to more abstract (but still based on external) values, like enlightenment, inner peace, Love. We strive to shed our ego that
we believe is blocking us from our innate being. This is the time of spiritual seeking, or inner focus. The point is, our ego will is still efforting to find wholeness, just in another direction.
Dark is not bad, and Light is not good. They are 2 sides of the same coin. Wholeness is found in the balance of these seeming opposites. Imbalance in either direction, causes negativity (suffering).
Wholeness encompasses both the dark (matter) and light (spirit) of what we are composed of. No separation. We are spirit expressing through matter. The swing to focus on our inner reality is important, but not at the denial of matter.
Wholeness is not reached by our mind’s efforts. It is reached by sitting back, observing, and ‘allowing‘.
Imbalance is caused by suppressed and impacted energy, mostly unconscious. To keep the energy balanced, we must allow it to be released. This means allowing it to be there to express itself out, not deny it or distract ourselves from it. Feel it in your body. Pay attention and focus on it, as if it were a little child nagging for your attention. Once you give that child your undivided attention, they feel seen, and they are off.
You will find that focused attention to these impacted energies (both physical and emotional), will allow them to dissolve fairly quickly. It may take a series of releases over time, but it will not be unrelenting continuous suffering. It reminds me of labor contractions. If you relax your body and allow the contraction, there is less pain. Resistance causes pain. And, after a series of these movements, the blockage is finally cleared, the excess energy is released, and you are back in balance – “free of psychological suffering”.
In short, you will no longer be controlled by your unconscious need to balance dark and light. Now you can make real choices, coming from conscious awareness. Wisdom. You can now make choices that support your well-being and wholeness. This is freedom. This is being whole.
